With 23 years' solid litigation experience, Anne Ray specializes in Commercial Litigation and Family Law. Possessing powerful working knowledge of Rules of Civil Procedure and Family Law Rules, she works independently with clients, commanding quality supervisory and project management expertise.
She has clerked for acknowledged top senior solicitors regarded as specialists in the fields of commercial litigation, at Smith Lyons (now Gowlings) and family law at McCarthy Tetrault and Basman Smith. Anne was quickly promoted to Senior Management Law Clerk in charge of large National and International commercial litigation files, for formerly Smith Lyons throughout the 1990s.
Anne successfully transitioned to family law in 2001 and joined sophisticated Family Law practice, Basman Smith LLP in 2005. Handling all aspects of Family Law files, she prepares financial statements, pleadings and briefs as well as preparing files for trial. She is the acknowledged "go-to" clerk whom the partners at Basman Smith typically rely upon to trouble shoot files requiring her informed, uncompromising touch.
Anne has participated in yearly ILCO and Law Society seminars relevant to Family and Civil/Commercial Litigation and continues to seek out educational opportunities to stretch and grow within her practice.
She graduated with honours from Woodsworth College at U of T in 1980. This served as Anne's gateway to greater accomplishment, propelling her to complete law clerk courses which guided her into her current professional success.
Anne originally became a member of the Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario in 1987 and in 1993 completed with honours the fellowship certification as a Senior Litigation Law Clerk at Centennial College, and in 2012 earned fellowship certification in Family Law with the Institute.
